Magdalen Bader was born in Czechoslovakia in 1930. She survived Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, and its satellite camp Tannenberg. Her mother, father, and 3-year old sister were killed. She escaped into the woods from Tannenberg and was liberated from there. Four of her sisters managed to stay together in the camps, although one was killed. Three of her brothers were used as forced laborers. She came to the United States in 1949 and obtained a Masters in Arts and became an art teacher. Only one of her sisters still survives.
